One Easy Piece
May. 18th, 2019 08:29 amPlayed a show last night up at Two Rivers. There were a lot of acts so I played a pretty short set. (I guess it's not a set if I always play one piece, so I guess I should switch "set" for "piece.") Adam the Astronaut was first. He wasn't very good. Just acoustic covers (maybe there were a few originals but whatever, nothing was really what you'd call good). I was next and I did my modular thing. I incorporated silence as a compositional element. I mean, it wasn't all silence but I had a lot of silence in it. I was a little bummed afterwards 'cuz there was one thing I forgot to do (just a fast clock causing an off-kilter square wave that was also controlling one of the filters giving kind of a stuttering thing with the resonance up and I forgot to incorporate that, oh well). Tojo Yamamoto was next with their first show. It was just David doing some of the beats he's been doing live for a while and Mike and Truth rapping over it. David's beats are really good. Next was David (ahem, David R. Howle II) with Mari Deweese reading poetry over it. And last was Blood like Wine. So even though there was a lot of acts, most of them were the same people jumping around so it didn't actually even go late. After I got home Mary Beth and I sat outside on the back deck enjoying the night breeze and talking.
