Mary Beth and I went to see Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains up at Crosstown last night. I wasn't really familiar with it beforehand but it's a really good movie. I felt kinda dumb 'cuz it wasn't until it was literally a few minutes from the end that I realized the one character is Laura Dern! I'd initially thought she looked vaguely familiar but didn't think too much of it but then it was almost over and I'm like "oh, duh!". Also I was like, they're really going for it with the Paul Cook look on the one band's drummer...and it wasn't until the credits I realized that it's actually Paul Cook (and the rest of the band, aside from the actor lead singer, was Steve Jones and Paul Simonon!). You don't think too much about a movie punk band going for a Sex Pistols sound, but learning it's half the band and they wrote the song and then it's like, oh, not even imitation. Famous people (both before and after their day) aside it was a really good movie. The workplace was still standing today. It was as grease fire at Texas de Brazil (which is adjoining or technically the same building). People had pictures and video of this huge plume of smoke coming out over our building. They had all these machines throughout the office to get rid of any smoke (I guess that's the benefit of working for a company that owns a commercial restoration business). Anyway, home from work. Now to get ready for my show tonight!
