Live Performance
Aug. 28th, 2018 04:58 pmPlayed a solo show last night at the Hi-Tone. It was fun, lots of nice folks. I was the opener. My set probably went alright. I mean, as usual a bunch of things don't go right (mostly 'cuz in the most I forget to do something or whatever) but it probably sounded okay. The other musicians seemed into it anyway (and I'm sure any casual audience member was like "what the fuck is this shit?"). Reverent was next. I talked to him a bunch before and after the show and he was really nice. His music was okay, kinda not my thing, but there were some interesting elements. He did kind of an a cappella industrial kinda thing heavily using a looper pedal and a few other effects pedals here and there. Had a bit of a spirtuals foundation (maybe that's what I responded to least). The Pop Ritual played last and they were pretty good as always, they had a pretty decent turnout too. And those folks are super nice as always. Did a little media trading and got The Pop Ritual's cd Perinde ac Cadaver and Jordan Reyes (aka Reverent) gave me a tape under his name Afraid of Death. He seems interested in putting out the recording of last night's performance on tape. We'll see how that sounds. It was as late night so I was as bit tired at work thought I ended up doing some important work in the afternoon. Woo! Also, our communications pilot is now over and we've released it to everyone in Terminix. ¡Muy emocionante! Oh, there was one little detail from my 2001 reflections that I left out yesterday. The painting hovering largely above David as he turns around at the table. There were a few people in it, but there's centrally a man wearing a red suit! I need to look up some information on this painting. Definitely seems pointed and relates back of course to David's suit. Oh yeah, and something I wouldn't have caught if for not overhearing the people next to me talking (which I was annoyed with at first, but then I was like "woah, yeah!") is that after he knocks the glass over and it shatters on the floor, he's looking at it and from that angle you can see there is another glass with the same amount of liquid back on the table. No thoughts about that, but it's a pretty cool detail.
