Yesterday I finished reading Collected Fiction by Louis Zukofsky. Overall it was okay. There were some things I liked about it, but much of it didn't really register with me. Other than that there was errand running and exercising. I went over to Alex's 'cuz he wanted to play me some music he was considering for the compilation. So we listed to some of his music and talked and he talked about this Remix Memphis project he's working on that involves field recordings and sounds really awesome. Not too much later I went out to Fayette County for a Nonconnah sort of picnic at the Corsas'. I fucking missed the exit off the interstate and the next exit is a bit away (their place is currently not even near any exit, though they've been building one right nearby). So thanks be to google maps I got to take a fun scenic route back to their place down some country ass roads. A lot of it was nice and pretty with the fields being very green right now. I did hit one road that had a long stretch of gravel that slowed things down considerably. Anyway, I made it and it didn't matter 'cuz I was still the first one there. They had me make a fire with nothing to start with but a cigarette lighter. But I used my scouting skills to build up a pretty kick ass fire from that (using leaves as a starting point). Denny had the kids she nannies with her. Eventually Jacques came over. Then Nate and April and Patti. And finally Jack with his family. Apparently Patti had been talking about me all day when she heard I was going to be there. I made her howl with laughter at a few joke repeatedly: 1. making fart sounds with my mouth (following her lead) 2. talking about lightning bugs and their "phosphorescent butt" (following Nate's lead when he was trying to get her to say the phrase, I put a special emphasis on the word "butt"). She was also kinda doing this dance that I called the flappy chicken. Anyway, it was a good time hanging out and all. Then came home to spend a little bit of time with Mary Beth and now it's today.
