ateolf: (Mission of Blurma)
So yesterday was a fun day of troubleshooting and working on these damn production issues where the pilot we rolled out (after being delayed a month) had all kindsa problems! (Well, two major problems.) But the team and I came up with solutions. Was testing out one and for a while it just wouldn't work. Never did anything code-wise with deleting preferences and I was trying to and it just wouldn't work. Then I talked to someone and realized maybe the newish security layer in front of the apis was messed up and then thought it wasn't set up for deletes...until I realized I was just screwing up the url I was deleting to! I wasn't including the id in the url for each request...well, I thought I was! I was setting it and passing it in as a new variable, but then just passed along the old variable into the function! The equivalent of:
var newString = oldString + somethingElse;
object.Method(oldString);

NICE! Took me a while to figure out that gem. Then again the load script took to long to be able to test anyway. Mary Beth and I went and had lunch at DWJ 2 and got a bit of Korean deliciousness. I got a little module in the mail yesterday as well: an Erogenous Tones Levit8 (eight-damn channel mixer!), haven't had time to install it or anything. Well, I probably have had the time, I just haven't yet. So then after work I relax and let my hair down and have FUN by...working! I spent all day on the production problem such that I didn't have time to work on the regular ticket I'd had that's a pi objective (and the pi ends next week!). At least it's a more fun ticket. Worked on that a while, then I went up to the Hi-Tone to see the Piano Man Pictures roadshow thing, where they're playing a few of their movies including the one The Family Ghost did the soundtrack for (even though he never changed the credit from saying music composed by Jacques Granger). David and Mary were there and hung out a while talking to them and Jacques afterwards (by "talking" I mean mostly sitting and not hearing anything 'cuz it was loud and not talking myself). After that I came home and...went back to work! And worked way too late into the night. But I did make lots of progress in many new areas and I think there's only one part that's really not working now, but it might not be on my end (but not sure). I am uploading files to the S3 bucket! That's exciting. The files are empty, but hey. I think the issue is getting the files, there's either something wrong with the external server I'm getting 'em from or how I'm doing it...we'll see! But that's enough damn work talk. I'm up too early anyway.
