Did some work at home last night. Kinda made some progress, or at least with identifying what the damn issue is, but it's still not fixed. It's been some damn reference/nuget/version hell. I did manage to at least roll master back to pre-commit and move my further changes back to the branch. But it's been damn annoying. And I was tired today 'cuz of the show. Anyway, let's talk about the show! A much better thing to talk about. It was up at the p&h, a barrage of solo performances. First up was Jack (or Avery Vaughn as his nom de scène). His stuff was kinda folk leaning a little in the "american primitive guitar" kinda thing. It reminded me a bit of John Fahey, especially the 90s stuff where he had some electronic drones 'cuz Jack made much use of a freeze pedal that gave him accompanying drones. He did mostly instrumental guitar with a couple songs with vocals in the middle (one was a Richard Thompson cover, the other might have been a cover too but I'm not sure). I wasn't sure what to expect but it was really good. Next was CJ Boyd who's on tour and is the bass player for Real Live Tigers. His stuff was really great. He layered loops and had these freeform kinda movements. He start on upright bass with lots of jazzy plucking (and a little bowing), then moved to ebowed bass drones on the electric bass, then picked bass, then bass ukulele. At times with a little harmonica or vocals thrown in. His stuff was really really good and I was pretty damn impressed. I picked up a couple of his cds: Aerial Roots and Precariat. Jacques was next doing his parts to a few Family Ghost songs and a few covers. Alyssa was last. She played guitar and sang and it was good to see her live solo as I hadn't before and it was good and stuff. Anyway, then I'm able to go home and finally get to sleep. It wasn't insanely late but it was pretty darn late. So I was a little tired today but not too bad. Mostly annoyed at the circles I've been spinning trying to get this shit to work right. I got the news that Mario died. I'm glad I got to see him again so recently. I mean, he was damn old for a dog, so I'm glad he got to live as long as he did. I do miss living in the same house with him. My heart's going out to Dustin, even when you're expecting it it's really hard to lose someone you love so much and are so close to.
