ateolf: (the goat...BITCH!)
Pretty darn good show last night considering we didn't even practice together for it at all! And it was Jack's first time playing any of these songs with the whole band. We got there pretty early to set up as it was my first time with the modular set up and I had a bit to make sure was configured. Murphy's was still hoppin' with all the regulars. The place I was going to set up the table for the synths was occupied by a group so I went to the side on the floor and the owner started getting real mad about the table blocking the door which is fine and so I was going to move the table, but then he thought I wasn't or something and started getting real mad until I finally assuaged him. He was very drunk. Then the rest of the night his tone shifted to playfully condescending. Which, whatever. But there was quite a lot of commotion over my modular setup from a lot of very drunk people. But I got my stuff set up purty good. We tried to start early (for Murphy's) close to 9, but were held back. But I think we got going about 9:30 so it was still a relative win. I'd forgotten just how much of my drum hardware is broken. Completely forgot about the hi-hat stand being out of commission. Luckily The Margins let us borrow theirs. I mean, we would have made do whatever. We weren't running too picky. Our set went like so:

Lost Year
Death Blow
Fall Behind
Doctorate
Battle Chant

Quite a few people came out for it and they seemed to be into it more or less. Couches were the touring band and they were pretty good. Didn't feel like I was super into them at first, very poppy. As they went on I was picking up kind of a Chavez and 90s indie thing that I started to get into. The Margins were last and good as always.

After I got home was up quite a bit longer so I was really tired today. But it honestly wasn't too bad. Work was alright. Maybe some headway on a couple things finally came through (even though it's really damn late, but whatever). Found out our Phil, our product owner, will be transitioning out of the role. I understand as I know that's not his main job and it's sort of like he's working two jobs, but I'd say he's been good at it. He's the manager of the guy that's replacing him so I'm expecting it to be an alright transition. Came home to a replacement earplug attenuator. I thought when I ordered it it'd be a pair, but it's just one (well, I ordered two different levels, one the same medium level I'd had before and one higher level, one of each). The one that matches is alright I guess, maybe ideal since I only lost one anyway. But I guess I should get an additional one for the other level. Low priority but kinda silly only having the one. I also got Simply Saucer: Cyborgs Revisited cd in the mail.
