Missing Piece
Dec. 4th, 2017 05:39 pmI practiced with Nonconnah yesterday up at Beach House. I think it went pretty well. Nate joined us this time (and Denny and Dominic were absent). Just jammed. I brought the modular (and also a midi keyboard for the first time, been avoid all keyboard usage for a while but I guess I'm breaking it in a little since that Family Ghost show is coming up that I still need to practice at all for...and that's Wednesday by the way). I ended up finally losing that loose earplug attenuator once and for all. I dropped it on the floor when I took the earplug out but found it almost immediately. Then I had it in my hand and it slipped out of my fingers and I was near a giant grate in the floor that I'm sure it just fell through. So there's that. I was able to find replacements online so we'll see. Did some movie watching yesterday. I watched Wild at Heart. Never seen it before, and while it's far from Lynch's best, I thought it was pretty good and enjoyable. I finished reading Nostalgia by Mircea Cărtărescu. It was fucking fantastic. One of the best books I've read in a while. Pretty postmodern and the kinda thing that's just up my alley. I know he's very well known inside Romania, but I think he'd be even more well known throughout the rest of the world if Romanian wasn't such an "obscure" language. Later at night I watched Age of Consent with Mary Beth. Then there was work today which I guess went okay. I came home to a couple cds in the mail: Iannis Xenakis: Persepolis and Giovanni Fusco: Music for Michelangelo Antonioni.
