First Place Loser
Dec. 13th, 2016 06:54 pmI had a burst of productivity on Sunday (of a sort). Now that it's almost christmas again I finally hung up those posters Mary Beth got me for christmas last year! (Such a bad recipient!) But those awesome posters are finally up and being awesome. We got the electronic music pioneers one up in the music room. We got the constellation of nes games one up in the living room. There was some replacement of other wall hangings where those were but that's fine. And the Valencia poster above my cd tower was falling apart (the frame anyway) so we took that down and repaired it which was probably the biggest undertaking. Here's a fun anecdote. Horace ate corn muffin crumbs from my stomach. That's a first. More power to him. Oh I should add that Sunday made complete our weekend of cancellations. There was supposed to be a Memphis Forward meeting but it was also cancelled (that's when I decided to do the poster hanging).
Yesterday was a pretty quaint day at work. The hackathon finalists got to go to Rec Room for the last couple hours of the workday! I attacked Burger Time and Galaxian especially. Sadly my team didn't win anything (except for a certificate). They announced the scores for the first round (the one that selected the finalists) and we actually got the highest score! But what mattered was the final round with the executive committee and there was just a winner and a runner up getting any rewards. And it wasn't us. Ah well. Apparently they seemed to go heavily on what was closest to production-ready and I know the winning team kept working on theirs after the hackathon (we did not). Zach came over last night after work and we played with synths and made a little bit of a racket. It was cool. Maybe we'll have another "playdate" in the future.
Today at work was exciting 'cuz I FINALLY got the appointments api working in dev! Hoorah hoorah! After work I had a deployment, and while I knew this one would be relatively quick it far exceeded my expectations. Typically they've been an hour, I thought it might be half an hour, but it ended up being just fifteen minutes. Nice! I guess that means less time to take off on Thursday, but more time tonight. I also came home to some cds in the mail: Electroshock Presents: Electroacoustic Music V #5, Electroshock Presents: Electroacoustic Music Volume VI, Electroshock Presents: Electroacoustic Music Vol. VII, Electroshock Presents: Electroacoustic Music Volume VIII, and Electroshock Presents: Electroacoustic Music Volume IX. See if you can detect the pattern! Oh, also Day for Night released the map. All but one of the stages are outside (and it's supposed to rain and storm this weekend in Houston...oh well...). Unlike most events that are around the corner, I'm actually starting to feel like this is close and am getting that excited feeling. Woo.
