Mouth

Last night I finished reading At the Mountains of Madness by H. P. Lovecraft. It wasn't very good. The writing's pretty bad. He's very repetitive (especially with certain words and phrases, and sometimes just the idea that gets mentioned an unnecessary number of times). And he likes to explicitly say that things are "horrific" or whatever, a lot. Some of the ideas aren't so bad. I like the irony or development or whatever of the Older Ones being set up as being the monsters but then they get somewhat humanized by the end. The downside I guess is that all this time is spent building them up as the scary ones (but then again they never seem scary aside from being told that they're scary) only to have it switched with something you barely see at the end and being told, oh no yeah that one's the really really scary one. Oh and then something that's even scarier but you don't even see that at all. See, that actually sounds pretty cool the way I just described it, but it's a little more tedious and boring than that. Anyway, the writing and all isn't the worst ever, but it was less than good. I had this "lunch and learn" at work today, but there was no lunch so it was really just a "learn during lunchtime." I saw the name and expected lunch so I didn't bring one and had to go run and barely catch a food truck before they closed up. I did and had a pulled pork bahn mi that was pretty good. It did pay off 'cuz when I got home and the receipt from lunch fell on the floor Horace started playing with it hardcore (he doesn't play a whole lot, never really did THAT much, so it's good and cute too when he does). Also, I worked my first ticket for the serv-a (read, survey) app. Did all the work. Sure it was just changing one word in a text field but still! That's something. Oh and I got a 4ms shirt in the mail today. It's this abstract design with their panel designs kinda mashed together. It's cool, yo.
