Went up to work yesterday afternoon for the anime and junkfood thingie. I'd proposed a horror movie marathon since we are entering the venerable month of October but nobody else really seemed into it at all, I brought a bunch of horror movies anyway. Well, that didn't happen right away. When I first got there they put on some show called Gungrave or something that nobody seemed to like very much, but then Stephen put on Mob Psycho 100, which is made by ONE (those behind One-Punch Man). You could definitely tell the same hands were at work behind it, that is to say it was very good. We got a few episodes in. There are some differences, I mean, it does stand on its own. I was getting into it and it's well done. Then dudes decided to watch one of my movies. Spencer picked Let the Right One In. Hadn't seen it since it was in the theater so it was nice to rewatch. I may have even felt a little differently. Some of the things about the old dude's being so bad at murder made me rethink his and Eli's relationship. Also, I'd forgotten about the twelve year old vag shot (stand-in but still) so that was slightly awkward.
Today Mary Beth and I got up and went up to the Brooks to watch River of Fundament, the recent Matthew Barney movie. It was a really damn good way to spend six hours. The visuals were great and I guess I'm sucker for buttholes and gold gilt feces. Also thought it was funny seeing Salman Rushdie for a second when I just started reading Ground beneath Her Feet. Sorry I don't have deeper insights to shace than that. Afterwards we went up to the Hi-Tone for the Lady Parts Justice Taco Fest. So yeah, we ate tacos and watched a few comics that were actually mostly funny. Oh, I'm remembering now a story I forgot about! When I came home from anime and underage vampires, I was giving Horace his fluids like I do every day. Well, the bag is hung up on the wall and the needle is in the cat and I'm sitting there with him as it slowly drips (this last bag or the new line I got has been really slow for some reason so it was taking longer than usual anyway) we see a cockroach appear and climb onto the bag hovering above us. I can't attack and smash it for several reasons. First, it's on the fluid bag so I'd end up just smashing that! Second, if I smash it it's just going to fall down and land on top of either me or Horace which I don't want. And third, if I get up and make a sudden movement Horace is gonna get startled and try to run off while he's got this needle sticking underneath his skin. So we have to sit there staring up as his fluid slowly moves down the two lines and it's just crawling all over the place right above us. It was even stretching itself out like it was looking to go flying off and probably right down on us a few times. Well, the tense situation finally ended as Horace got enough fluid to get by and it seemed like it was about to crawl around the corner so I was able to clear the way and knock it down to the floor and smash it finally. Hooray. Now that I'm done telling you the exciting tales you most wanted to hear about...
