So we're at the grocery store yesterday and I'm charged with getting the meat. Okay, yeah. So I'm getting the ribs and the list says to get 3-4 pounds. Great, there are some on ice in a bin in front of the meat counter, look at the tag and I grab some. I see 3.99, well that's between 3 and 4 pounds. We check out and Mary Beth seems concerned about the massive amount of ribs. Turns out the 3.99 was the unit price and the weight was over 10 pounds. It was like three fuckin' racks together in one package. So yeah, like the idiot I was I took it back to exchange it. I had another moment of idiocy. We get back (with much less time for me between having to leave for boardgames with cowokers). Mary Beth heats up the two crab cakes we got at the store and hands me mine. I get the plate and immediately tump it onto the floor. Well fuck. Don't have much time 'cuz I'm about to leave. That's it there aren't any others. And then Mary Beth offers to give me hers and eat mine. So no I just grab it off the floor and eat the damn thing. Split second decision, but yeah. I haven't died or gotten sick or anything so I guess my floor food gamble "paid off" this time. (I say "this time" but really I don't go around eating floor food as a rule, I promise.) Okay yeah. So over to Spencer's for boardgame playin'. His friend Paul was there and as for coworkers: John, Stephen, Anthony, and Brent. First we played Ticket to Ride Europe (which I brought and is one of my favorite games). I thought I was gonna win it. I got the damn eight track tunnel at the top of the board and I got "longest road" and I met all my destinations and picked up a new destination that I managed to get. But no, Anthony won. He was the first to lay down all his trains and I still had quite a few left so that's a point deficit there and I think he got a bunch more short destinations that added up. Ah well. We did the full 5 player game and whew, it gets harder that way. I didn't originally plan to take the crazy long section, but so quickly my other options got completely cut off. Gets pretty darn crowded with the full amount of players, also takes a bit longer, but it was fun, yo. After that we played this game called Talisman, which is like an rpg kinda board game. It was fun. I was this possessed dude with this giant arm that was half his size for some reason. Also, this game has motherfucking CONES, I shit you not! You use cones to represent your stats (life, strength, charm). It's a pretty long game by design. You gotta go move around and build up stats and stuff before you can move to the inner layers. After a few hours and all but two of us were still in the outer layer and several of us were about to leave, we decided to call it. So we came up with picking our highest stat and rolling a die and whoever has the highest number won the "battle" and the game (as this is very similar to the actual battle mechanics in the game). Spencer won that game. It was fun. It'd definitely be a fun game to play if you just set aside a whole day for it. And, uh, cones and stuff.
