The Old Forest
Apr. 24th, 2016 12:21 pmMary Beth had a craving for cheap shitty burritos yesterday so we got some, ostensibly for our picnic but then ended up eating them before. She'd planned a picnic for her parents, but since they didn't come and she'd had everything ready for it anyway, we had a picnic for the two of us. We went up to Overton Park and first we walked the trails. I'd never walked 'em before (just the paved path through the Old Forest). It was pretty cool. And I mean, it's super awesome that that's just a feature of the park. It's pretty rare to have a sizable chunk of just some fuckin' woods in the middle of a city. And we saw in the middle of the woods what Mary Beth calls the "Elvis Eggs." It's these pretty big concrete basins (from fountains or something? not sure) that are pretty cracked and crumbled and there's a marker sign near them that just says "Elvis Relics." Okay, after our wanderings through the forest we went out to the greensward (of which the far end is of course filled with parked cars...with a temporary fence surrounding it and one of those mobile police camera thingies with the flashing blue light...such fucking bullshit). We had our picnic and it was an absolutely gorgeous day and the park had a bunch of people and it was pretty nice stuff. In the evening we went over to Paul's 'cuz Shawna's in town. It was pretty good. I was able to give Josh his birthday present. Most of the "party" though ended up being various sessions of relationship therapy. Well, now it is Sunday and anyway. We've been worried about Horace again. Since his phosphorous medicine ran out (which it was supposed to, use it until it's gone) he's been back to not eating so much and throwing up some. It's not yet to where it was at its worst where he literally wasn't eating anything, but I know he's not eating near what he needs to be eating. I'll be calling the vet tomorrow.
