ateolf: (METAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
It's been a pretty awesome run of some days. I'll try to see how quickly I can go over it 'cuz I've got my final project to work on!

Friday I ran some errands to get ready for game night with the fasttrackers. Got a couple more chairs at Target. Um. Mary Beth and I watched a bunch of Brooklyn 99. Saturday was more getting ready for the party. I woke up and did some hardcore cleaning. Then I had more errands to run a little later. We set up the living room to accommodate the games. Realized we'd need another table (two for games and one for food altogether). So I went and got another folding table. Got drinks. Found a round tablecloth for the round table we brought in from the porch-area (its top being in poor condition and all) at Tuesday Morning. Scheduled a delivery for a buttload of pizza.

It was a pretty good turnout: Jonathan, Shane, Anderson, Jordan, Michael, Oliver, and Oliver's brother (TJ, I think) who was visiting him from back home. It was really a fuckin' blast. We had two games going on at a time at first. My table played two games of Catan (I won the first one, Jonathan won the second...also Michael and Jordan played with us). Mary Beth even came out after not too long (she'd wanted to hide from all the people, but ended up liking everyone a lot and having fun too). After a good bit of, ahem, serious gaming, a bunch of people wanted to play Cards against Humanity, so we continued the tradition of ending the night with a big game of that with everyone together. It was a lot of fun and I and everyone else laughed a whole fucking lot. A couple of the guys had never played it before so it was funny hearing their reactions when they first got some cards.

Sunday was The Family Ghost's final practice before OUR SHOW THIS FRIDAY AT THE HI-TONE. It was bit frustrating 'cuz Paul didn't make it. He has this trip to Chicago he's taking this week (which he will HOPEFULLY be back JUST IN TIME for). His work put this on him the last minute (less than a week before he'd leave), then cancelled it, then put it back on. He left Sunday and we even scheduled the practice earlier to accommodate him. But then he skipped out 'cuz he hadn't packed yet. But the rest of us practiced and we did okay, I guess.

A little later I went over to Patrick's house in Mississippi to work on our group project (me, him, Jonathan, and Oliver). This is the make facebook project (which was first dubbed OliverMyFace and then NoodlesOliverMyFace). (I don't think I ever explained the origin of Noodles. One day early in the class, our instructor Jonathan said he kept thinking student Jonathan's last name said "Noodles" on his name sign thingie. Even he didn't understand why as Jonathan's actual last name is Hodges. But thus the Noodles moniker was born.) I'm sure after coming back home Mary Beth and I watched more Brooklyn 99 in the evening (there's been a lot of that tv watching past few days).

Okay, Monday we worked on the thing some in class. it was kind of the last day for it as he showed us a few last things and went over our projects to give us feedback on Tuesday. I did get singled out for doing a couple really stupid things. But a little later he was doing some cold call-type questioning (which he does pretty rarely) and he asked me a question about JMS and he said my answer was very good. So...not all bad? Also, I think it was last week when he said I was something of an outlier for both people with math degrees and former teachers in that they tend not to do too well in the fasttrack environment, something to do with maybe having clashing expectations as to how the class would go. Anyway, the implication there being I'm good or at least not terrible. So that's nice. We didn't finish our project, but none of the groups did. It's a lot of fun working as a team, but in ways it makes it harder 'cuz you have to keep track with what other people are doing and anticipate them and you're not always sure what's going on in other parts of the code.

Today is my mom's birthday so we met my parents and nephews for dinner last night (as I knew I'd be getting my final today and all that). We met at the Macaroni Grill. The one we used to go to is closed down so we went to the one out in Cordova. It was alright, good to see the family.

Got the final today. The goal is to make a website that schedules airline flights and connecting destinations and all that. So of course I'm started on it. I've got just a little over a week to do it! I think it might actually be fun to work on. Of course, I'm sure I'm underestimating how difficult it's going to be. Don't have too much done so far. It started snowing (not icing) today and the world looked like a snowglobe. Mary Beth and I watched the final episode of Parks and Recreation over tea. Hard to believe it's over! I get so sappy for finales. Well, it looks like it's time to put this aside and get back to work!
