This Week

It's been a somewhat insane week, or last couple days anyway. Family/sister-related. Been low on sleep lately. Wednesday was my sister's big court day. The annoying thing is, of the billions of lawyers in the mix, the one that's a court-appointed whatever to represent Jason just wasn't ready so he got a two month "continuance" that maintains the current status quo (Jason still in his other grandmother's custody). So many are upset over that. My parents got custody of Anthony. Also, things that I think the other side were banking on were shown not true. Christina passed the hair folicle test again. They got information from the doctor showing that Jason had not been medically neglected. I know it's a huge mess right now, but I forsee things only going better from here. Anyway, so there's that. Then yesterday I got messages from my dad about how my sister just disappeared not long after court and there was no one to watch Anthony, so my dad was missing work and had to sign off on the audit and would most likely lose his job if he missed today (which is an insane notion if you know my dad at all). Mary Beth went over today and babysat (my sister apparently showed up oblivious in the afternoon). I also talked to my mom who's still out of town on the phone last night and she was all kinds of upset over my sister's irresponsibility in the wake of this whole mess. Anyway, other stuff. On Wednesday I was a little nervous about work, not terribly but nothing like this had ever happened before. Remember that talk I had with a parent last week or the week before or whatever? They went to the board with a complaint about me, another teacher, and an administrator saying their son had been mistreated. Someone from the board was supposed to come out and talk to us all Wednesday afternoon. They never showed up though. Our principal was pretty dismissive of the whole thing too. Something along the lines of that boy being very disrespectful, not going to tolerate that, and not going to interrupt any classes to address the nonsense. At the end of the (very short, a RARE event) faculty meeting, I had to enter some information regarding evaluations into the computer. Ms. Coleman asked me what my plans were after school. I told her and she said that I shouldn't completely give up on teaching because she could tell I like it and that I would do better if I had students who wanted to learn like at a community college or something. Yesterday while just starting my tutoring after school, all EOC teachers were called to the library to meet with the principal. So I had to send my students away and reschedule tutoring for today. It was about coming up with a plan/schedule for EOC pull-out/cram sessions next week. Anyway, did have my tutoring today and two of the kids actually did return (the were five originally yesterday). I thought it was kinda amazing for a Friday. Oh, Tuesday was kinda weird. I realized it was the last day I'd have my favorite day of the week. On block schedule, I have my longest planning period and teach only two classes on Tuesdays. This was the last week of block schedule, though that did change a little bit in the meeting. We decided to go back to a modified block schedule in the beginning of the week (tests start Thursday). I'll at least be seeing my EOC period every day up until then. Anyway,so there's still a little bit of block left, but Tuesday will be more like Friday and we'll be going to four classes instead of just three. Okay, that's long and boring and you probably don't know what any of it means. Well, I'm gonna go enjoy my weekend now!
