White Christmas
Dec. 26th, 2013 10:32 pmJust got back from Rochester seeing Mary Beth's family and all for the holiday. Mostly a nice and normal trip except for some family drama that popped up on the evening of Christmas (yesterday). We weren't there too long. The flight up was just fine and uneventful. We had an early early flight on Monday. Our taxi picked us up at 4 am. Mary Beth just stayed up all night and I squeezed in a few hours of sleep. But we got in around 11 in the morning. When we arrived, there was a little snow pushed to the sides around town, but it started snowing that night (and off and on lightly the rest of the trip). So most of the time I was there we were surrounded in a nice layer of white. Plus it was gentle enough to not be dangerous or hinder anything. Perfect Christmas snow. Not something I experience often, so it was pretty nifty. For the most part the trip was relaxed. We hung out around her parents' house. On Tuesday I finished reading This Is about the Body, the Mind, the Soul, the World, Time, and Fate by Diane Williams. It was a good, fast read. Mary Beth's aunts and uncles came over Christmas Eve (Tuesday night). For most of the trip, I was thinking relations with Mary Beth's sister were going well for the first time in years. I was pleasantly surprised, because of drama in the past. This is up until shortly before their aunt and uncle arrived on the evening of Christmas Day when her sister blew up in the nastiest blow-up yet. She was ready to get us a motel for the night somewhere else, but her parents convinced us to stay. We had a later flight this afternoon, so that gave us a chance to see some of her friends in town. Coming back was very uneventful. We did have a layover in the Detroit airport, which I don't think I'd ever been to before. Oh and since it was snowing I got to experience the thrill of deicing the plane. We got back not too late and we're happy to be home.
