Night of Glass

Mary Beth and I went over to Matt and Genie's Friday night for a party thingie. We did costumes. Mary Beth had assembled a Krazy Kat and Ignatz Moues getup. (I was Krazy Kat). Most people there were not in costume. Oh well. A few others were. I had gotten a ukelele as part of my costume and there was apparntly this ukelele obsessed dude there. Seeing mine got him going and he went out and he get the uke he just happened to have out in his car. It was alright, but not knowing too many people I was pretty socially awkward and just stood around not talking and randomly strumming the prop in my hands. Afterwards we went over to Paul and Shawna's. Others were there. More sitting around. This time to the backdrops of Sharnkado (jesus) and The Curse of Chucky (yawn). Yesterday The Family Ghost had an early and productive recording session. We got down the base tracks for "Safety Corridor" (and it sounds fucking awesome). I did a fun thing of taping up the structure for the loud parts on the wall real big-like. I had taped the drum mic hanging from the ceiling (a good tape job too, it hung up really well, but then I took it down and ceiling paint came with it as well as the mic crashing to the floor and getting an even worse dent than the one it already had). Then Ryan overdubbed his guitar part over the quieter drumless part. At the end we did a little practice, running through "Cameras" (and an imprmptu "Take Five" jam). Later, I recorded the vocals for "Safety Corridor." Alright. Paul came back over and we met Josh at El Mezcal. Then back to our place where after hanging out and talking a while I started passing out. Now Sunday. The day I've been dreading. So much to do. I'm at least thankful for that extra hour. And I at least finally feel rested up. So looking forward to a very certain, specific spot in the future.
