On Wednesday I got some replacement tubes in the mail for my amp (blew a tube not too long ago). Thursday, I got a package iwth my Autechre shirts (for Exai, they had two colors, the one I wanted the most not in large so I got it in extra large and the other color I got in large). It also contained a couple cds: Suzanne Ciani: Seven Waves | Voices of Packaged Souls and Pyrolator: Ausland. Went to the gym Thursday night. After work on Friday I went to a doctor's appointment. Afterwards I took a little nap, but wasn't able to sleep as long as I'd hoped. Only about an hour then couldn't get back to sleep. Well, I treated it like I was waking up for the morning and got ready and Mary Beth and I went to Josh and Molly's gathering. Played a little ping pong, hung out a bit. Then it was time to go to work for the senior trip. Got there just before midnight. Waited around a bit. There were a total of ten buses taken. I was on bus #4 with Mr. Poe. Before we left, we were delayed because our bus had some alarm noise going off that they couldn't figure out what was causing or how to stop. Thankfully, we only had to make one stop on the way up. We stopped at some truck stop and everyone got out at once so it was this sudden swarm there of almost 400 people. I'm sure the people working there were thrilled. Then in Birmingham we got lost. I think the interstate we're suppoed to take was completely closed off in that direction from construction. We sort of wandered around a bit and eventually got there. Kids were making lots of jokes about the slummy area we drove around in. At one point we stopped next to these three porn shops and they had some fun jokes about that. I managed to sleep off and on a little bit during the ride. I'd sleep a little bit and wake up here and there. It was a rough sort of sleep, the seats on those school buses are not what you'd call comfortable. We had quite a few hours at Six Flags over Georgia. Mostly I walked around the park alone. After a while I got bored and rode the ski lift type thing. Not a real ride, I guess, but it does have that rickety feeling maybe it'll come crashing down and I wanted to see the view. Then I decided maybe I'd ride a rollercoaster. So I rode the Great American Scream Machine, a wooden roller coaster that's fast and bumpy. Afterwards, I felt just a teensy bit motion sick so I found the store and got some dramamine. I was fine, just mostly tired later. Didn't ride anything else (and of course I was sworn not to ride anything that went upside-down after last year). There was a lunch thing at 4 where everyone met up at these pavilions. After that I talked a little bit with Ms. Glenn which I enjoyed. Then we left and got on the buses and stuff. Had to wait for damn kids who were late so we left 30 minutes late. For the most part, the trip wasn't as bad as I'd thought it'd be. It was mostly boring, wandering around the park not having much to do. Where this changes is the ride back. Well, the kids were a little rowdy at first leaving in the beginning but settled down alright. At some point a while into it, things got tense and this one kid was provoking this other kid and there started to be the stirrings of fight-talk. Luckily it didn't get to that, but they started getting a little rowdy. Then we stopped at the same truck stop as on the way up. So as not to repeat the clusterfuck of earlier, we were getting off one bus at a time. Great from an organizational standpoint, but rough when you're the one keeping the kids on the bus who have been riding a few hours and need to go to the restroom. We were there two fuckin' hours. One bus was way behind and we had to wait forever for it. I don't know if it had some kind of mechanical trouble or the driver just wasn't good or what. They ended up taking all the kids off that bus and redistributing them. So we were much more tightly packed after that. That whole scenario had them riled up, but I don't think for too long. After that I think I was asleep almost the whole time. Don't remember very much. We didn't get back to still til about 3 in the morning. I slept nice and long today. Was supposed to meet with my parents for mothers day but they were having some issues with my grandmother being sick so we put it off for a couple days. Did have dinner with Mary Beth at Edo. Now I should do what little I have to do to get ready for tomorrow. Having woken up not much more than eight hours ago, I'm definitely not tired for bed yet.
