In-Laws in Town
Jan. 20th, 2013 11:01 amThe rest of the week we dodged any "threat" of ice storms so it was back to school all the time. This week started Kaplan's coming to the bridge math classes (as well as creative writing) to do the whole ACT strategies thing to the kids, so one of their reps has been teaching my two classes. It started Thursday, well, it was kind of annoying Friday 'cuz she didn't come first period but she did come third, so I had to teach one class but not the other so stuff was off-balance. Anyway. Mary Beth's parents are in town this weekend. They came Friday afternoon. We met up and stuff and later in the evening we had dinner at Flying Fish. I had been there once and it was very mediocre, but Fred saw it on Yelp. Anyway, it was still very mediocre, bordering on bad. But the food's not what's important. Then yesterday morning we got together and showed them the Trolley Stop Market before we had an early lunch at Payne's. I tried a bit of the bologna sandwich 'cuz Mary Beth and I saw something on that the other night, but the rib sandwich is still king. Then it was a tour to Penzy's and Winchester Market. During our interim break I ended up passing out for a few minutes. We reconvened at had drinks at Local (well, I had a "starter") and then had dinner at Casablanca, which was great as always. Now it's the next day and they'll soon be meeting up and we'll be doing something else. I neglected to mention in my last post that Stuart Argabright talked to me on Facebook! He's the dude from Ike Yard and Death Comet Crew. Anyway, Public Information records had posted a song from some new band called Acteurs and I said it had a nice Ike Yard sound to it and he messaged me a few times complimenting my ear and that he's friends with the guy in the band and how that's what they were going for. That was very exciting for a nerd like me. Ike Yard is so fucking awesome. Anyway.
