the car that came in from the cold

well, it snowed yesterday and all felt magical...it was a fine-seeming day...then we're ready and about to go out and conquer the town and my car wouldn't start (good thing this coincided with my "weekend")...i tried jumping it and that didn't work...well, we ended up leaving it for the time being and just going out in Mary Beth's van...we tried to go to this independent game store i'd never been to but it was closed for "inventory" (snow day, i'm sure!) anyway, we went to target and i got New Super Mario Bros. Wii (and got enough coins to get a free game in my club nintendo account! it's already shipped, hopefully it'll be here soon...) i also got this awesome Space Invaders shirt with lots of colors and lots of invaders (my third Space Invaders shirt? but they're all awesome in their own unique way, i say...) i looked for a hat as mine's been missing but didn't find any worth getting which was fortuitous because when we got home i had a present in the mail from Mary Beth's sister: a hat! it has little symbols knit in the front: a pac man, a ghost, a cherry, one of those enemies that steals your ship in Galaga, a space invader, and your ship in Galaga...sweet! and now i'm much warmer...in the evening we went to Dustin and Courtney's for an awesome meal where Dustin made brisket tacos (wow!) and Mary Beth brought several things that were awesome as well...anyway, slept in today against better judgement (but i just didn't fuckin' feel like waking up...) i'd found out i do in fact have roadside assistance through my insurance (how about that!?) and was able to get my car towed successfully...it turns out it was just the battery...didn't think it was for some reason, i guess the charger i tried to jump it with wasn't fully charged...but i'd had that battery since i'd had the car (and i think it was a factory battery that came with the car to begin with) so that was a long stretch...it didn't take long to get all back to normal so all was good...i'd had 'em check it out 'cuz also my cruise control had been acting funny for a few days before the incident, but nothing turned up wrong but the battery...hopefully that's resolved now...but anyway, i tried to leave and my stereo wouldn't turn on...they repair shop couldn't do anything without taking everything out and apart so i called a Honda dealership and they were able to fetch the code over the phone so it wasn't even any more effort! awesome! now i'm elated...
