The Family Ghost show #34 Nocturnal 2009/07/09

the show was a pretty big disaster...no one showed up...NO ONE...two of our girlfriends and like three random people that just happened to be at the venue...the other band we were supposed to play with (The Original Cyndi) did not show up...there was some really embarassing drama when they called Jacques the day of the show and said they had to play first...Jacques ran this by Josh and Josh got mad and said he had a meeting real early and he wouldn't play the show if we couldn't play first so Jacques called the band back and they said they couldn't play so they didn't...so we played the show and no one showed up and we pretty much played to the other band (Mount Vicious)...it was kind of a strenuous night...the music was good...we played well and Mount Vicious was great...i played with a little less care towards "perfection" i mostly played the bass and the tone sounded kinda bad but i didn't care too much...well, here's the setlist:

we did something new with the synth on False Starts...i was a little bummed 'cuz it's the first time we'd done Taken since i got my boss delay halfrack thingie and i was excited to use it with my loop, but my amp just happened to decide to have a little short in the speaker cable and so my loop wasn't there the whole song...bummed me out, i was so looking forward to that! i guess there's a next time i hope...oh and speaking of shorts there was a short in one of the cables for the bass when we started and i checked some cables but not the right one and i got it into my head it was the direct box that was hooking it up to the pa and got the sound guy to change it and then i was sure it was the amp and i went through all this crap but yeah it was just the other cable so i was acting like a complete dumbass...great way to start the show...anyway, we were followed by Mount Vicious who played an awesome set even though it was pretty short and they were a bit in a hurry to have it over with...i felt pretty bad for 'em getting screwed a bit by this show (sorry, Conan)...but it was fun, all the other stuff aside...

now i'll backtrack, we practiced tuesday night...which is kind've sad in retrospect because it was an awesome practice and we sounded great and i was super-pumped even more than usual for this show...too bad about all that...and yesterday i finished reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy at work...and that's about it...it's actual a friday night for me! i mean, in that it's friday night and i just got off work and i actually don't work in the morning! i at least have this to be happy about!
