finished reading Germinal by Émile Zola today...not much else to say really...i'll just share a pointless observation...Mary Beth and i watched I'm not Scared last night and in this one scene this dude shows this picture of his wife to this kid and the kid says (as is subtitled) something along the lines of "she's colored" and the guy snaps back in a reproachful tone something along the lines of "she's black"...but you could hear the boy say "nera" and the guy respond back with "colore"...now i don't speak italian or nothin' but it was interesting to see the reversal in the literal meanings of the words...i'm sure it had to do with the opposing political correctness in the different languages, but it was just amusing that's all...pointless observation, as i stated...
