return of the Silver Apples!
Nov. 14th, 2008 06:50 pmsaw Silver Apples at the hi-tone again last night...it was pretty good, though a much shorter set i guess since he's the opening act...which, by the way, is weird to me, Silver Apples being the opening band...he didn't do "Program" or "You and I" but still did great stuff...hey, i even like the new stuff...Grails is the band he's touring with and they were okay...um...i started off liking them...the first few songs were pretty good...i like their eastern-type stuff alright...then in the middle of their set they did this really noodly stoner-rock song which was not so good and then they followed that up with a song that sounded just like Pink Floyd and was just horrible...i hated it...after that there was nothing so bad...most of their stuff was pretty good but not great...would never get an album out of fear that one song or something like it lurked somewhere within...i picked up a t-shirt for both bands "Grails Silver Apples 2008 Tour" and since it's probably the closest i'll ever get to a fuckin' Silver Apples shirt i wear it proudly...i finished reading Labyrinths by Jorge Luis Borges today...lot of overlap with Ficciones but that's okay, worth rereading and i almost absolutely never get the luxury of rereading anything so...okay, but no more messing around til i finally get around to Collected Fictions...but that's enough blather...
