I got a phone call from my sister in the morning that dad had been taken to the emergency room. I went up to the hospital to see him in the afternoon. It looks to be an infection but they were still waiting for test results to know exactly where it was. According to my sister he'd had a cold for a few days and hadn't been eating and then over the night it got really worse and he got extremely sick. He wasn't in great shape when I saw him though he's apparently doing better than when he'd first arrived. He had trouble talking because of his throat and he seemed half-lucid and half-kind of out of it. He said he was very tired which, of course. When I first got there I didn't know what room he was in so I ended up walking to the emergency room at the far end and asking and then walking back around through the labyrinthine corridors. I was waiting for my sister to get there before I left. She did the thing where she messaged me to say she was there but then it was over an hour before she made it to the room (I'm not blaming her or anything, I know she's had a lot to deal with it all at home). And around that time there was an issue of my dad needing something and looking for the nurses and trying to get the nurse and waiting for the nurse. I was supposed to go to this play with Mary Beth but I didn't get out in time and missed it. The one thing other than all of that is that I got a package in the mail with a couple of books in it: The Turn of the Screw and Other Short Novels by Henry James and The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton. That might seem kind of random but a while back I was looking at the books I've read for each year of publication and could almost trace it back continuously to some year or other in the late nineteenth century but had a few gaps and there were these two years that I had the gap and also didn't have a book from that year so I got those to fill the gaps and complete this arbitrary goal.
