I got some cds in the mail: Xmal Deutschland: Gift and "Blue" Gene Tyranny: Degrees of Freedom Found. The XD is a collection of their first two albums with an ep paired for each one...so I think that catches me up on all their stuff I need! The "B"GT is a compilation box set that came out a few years ago but was out-of-stock by the time I found out about him, but the label just found a few copies in the warehouse and had a little sale so I was able to get it! So in some pretty awesome news, Starfighter Yellow Superoverdrive dusted the project off and played a show for the first time in (I believe) six years. So super excited to get to see them. And the icing on the cake? Jesse asked me to play with them so I brought my Minibrute up to the Lamplighter last night and jammed along with them. I think it was pretty cool! I didn't have any idea what I was going to do beforehand but I got a little together right before while setting up and then came up with some more stuff in the moment. Jesse has a very heavy bass rig so I mostly stuck to high frequencies! There was also another extra person, Patrick I think, on guitar. A few times I just enjoyed stopping and sitting back and listening to what everyone else was playing. Bob Piggins played next and they used Casio drumbeats and a guy played bass and another guy sang. It was semi-theatrical, nervy-energetic lo-fi punk sorta stuff. It was good and fun stuff. Big Clown was last and they were good!
