They Did the Mash

In the evening, Mary Beth and I went to an Opera Memphis thing. This one was a bit Halloween themed. The talk beforehand was with a professor writing a book about Poe as one of the pieces was an adaptation of "The Tell Tale Heart". This was a collaboration with the Iris collective and the first piece was just a string quartet version of part of Saint-Saëns's "Danse Macabre". Then there was a little libretto that the tenor wrote about cannibalism. Then there was a little short about Figaro at a bar as an deadly comet is heading to the earth in ten minutes. The last thing was the adaptation of "The Tell Tale Heart" and it was probably the best piece. Then for the encore they all did a rendition of "Monster Mash". We got home and sat outside in the front listening to the party across the street where a honky tonk kinda band was playing. Then there was a craving for french fries and we ordered and picked up some Huey's cheese fries and ate them while watching The Facts of Life. That has you about caught up.
