Where?

Yesterday afternoon I finished reading Hermione by H.D. and it was exceptionally good. Then Mary Beth and I went up to Crosstown to see Where Is the Friend's House? It was the earliest Kiarostami film we've yet seen and it was really good. It was interesting to see the differences and similarities with his other movies. Like, he got even slower and more static in time over the years, but it's more of degrees on something he was already exploring. I mean, it's his closest of what I've seen to having a standard movie pacing and plotting, but it's still very much him. And lots of his trademarks in visuals and sound and humor are very much there. It was the most outright and obviously funny of his movies (I mean, you're not going to call it a comedy though), but that type of humor is present in all his stuff, there's just more of it here (and it's still just as subtle and deadpan and not outright, there's just a little more of it). Anyway, it was really good. Okay, now today is my last vacation day of the year!
