Yesterday was my first Friday to work in a good while. But it ended up being an unusual Friday anyway. There was a in-office lunch for the upcoming holiday so I went up there around lunchtime. They had it catered with Thanksgiving food. I'm not sure who did the catering but the turkey was actually really good. It was sliced and in some sauce that was good (and the meat was very tender). I got to see some coworkers and that was nice. I came back home after that and found a couple cds in the mail: Brainiac: Hissing Prigs in Static Couture and Brainiac: Smack Bunny Baby. Then at night Mary Beth and I went to the University of Memphis for a performance of "The Cousin from Nowhere" a German operetta from the 20s. Before the performance, we went to a short introductory lecture about it given by our former neighbor Jeremy, who's a professor of music theory and very much into opera. Anyway, during the piece at the climax, this new character shows up and when he announces who he is (you know, the person who's been repeatedly indicated would be showing up at the end throughout pretty much every moment of the piece) a bunch of people in the audience seemed to have gasped in surprise (maybe I misinterpreted and it was more sardonic, but it really seemed like I was hearing some surprised reactions). Anyway, if that's true, I thought it was very funny, that's all.
