Fruitcake

Very happy to hear the final results of Georgia's complete senate flip. Other than that the news was goddamn insane yesterday (Trump worshipers taking over the Capitol, should any future context be needed). I was taking a little drive last night and accidentally ended up in West Memphis (I ended up on channel 3 drive or whatever from the opposite direction and thought I was somewhere else when I stumbled onto that exit that takes you right to the bridge, oh well, I made it back). The other news that I forgot to mention yesterday, the monumentously important news, is that I started into the second fruitcake for this year. This is the one that was my favorite last year, from the monks in Missouri. It's delicious! That's all.

Woah! I was checking online here and there and they maybe had like ten states or so when I went to bed.

I really enjoy them but don’t buy then because until now, I was the only person I knew that liked them!

It stalled at Pennsylvania until about 1:45am our time. Everything else was smooth except there was an objection to Wisconsin with that same tired “definitely fraud!” Line that had the (I don’t know the term here) person who originally seconded it withdraw so it was tenuous for like a second. States R-Y took about 10 minutes.

So, West Memphis is as bad as it sounds, eh? :P

Well, first of all, yes (hahaha), but I should probably give a little context to a non-Memphian. So, West Memphis is Arkansas and (naturally) across the river. It's a big and wide river and while Memphis goes right up to the water as it's up on a bluff and safe from flooding, the other side of the river is lower so there's not much in the way of development close to it and the city of West Memphis is maybe a couple miles back from the river or so, so that directly on the other side it's fields and trees and semi-wilderness and such. Okay, so the point being, when you get on that road that turns into the onramp for the interstate going over the "old" bridge there aren't any more exits so you're just stuck going forward for a good while til you run into anything and you're able to turn back around. And then with the feeling of going right onto this long bridge crossing a wide river and then having to go forward through a good bit of country (coming right off from being downtown) it feels a bit more dramatic and even makes it feel like you're stuck driving forward away from the city longer than you actually are. All in all, it's a few minutes of delay (maybe ten minutes?). But, that's my over-long explanation of it anyway.

makes me think of that time in kentucky late at night when we missed the ramp we wanted and it felt like we had to drive another 30-60minutes just to turn around!
