Another Fucking Year

During the day yesterday, Mary Beth and I cleaned out the front closet and threw out piles of junk (lots of boxes). Later at night we watched The Thin Man and then we made our way through an inaugural game of Patchwork and it was fun. I even had a little bit of champagne with Mary Beth at midnight (and even a little bit of sloe gin fizz). We woke up to a pretty good start to the new year this morning. I know the subject of this post sounds real cynical (and there's definitely that hanging out there), but I am feeling very happy about the core things in my life right now: marriage, cats, even job. So really I'm focusing on that and truly feeling happy for the new year.
