I watched The Matrix today for the first time. My coworker John had been telling me to see it forever and I finally I said I'd see it if he saw 2001, so then he saw 2001 and as a man of my word I went and rented The Matrix today. It wasn't terrible but it was pretty goofy, a lot of it. And the whole the-chosen-one plot device is one of the worst things ever. Also the end! That last second is one of the dumbest endings for any movie. After that I watched Written on the Wind. It was the first Douglas Sirk movie I've seen. It was good. Definitely a melodrama. There was lots of good stuff in it, especially the cinematography. Mary Beth made ribs today and I thought we were going to be all-american for this american holiday weekend, but alas! They were...vietnamese ribs...! Talk about a perversions of our great society! They were very tasty...and very un-american...
