Last night Mary Beth and I went to this art opening two of my coworkers were in. It was this notebook thingie where a bunch of people had these little notebooks filled with art at the Power House (nice to see it's still around or around or again or whatever the case, thought it had closed a couple years ago, maybe it did, not sure). Of course, a lot of it was crap, the idea was a neat one and some of it was very good. It was a fun look-see. Most of the crap stuff was pretty juvenile, lots of weiners. Then we went to see Warm Girls play at The Daily Planet. We got there over an hour after it was said to "start." The owner or whoever hadn't even showed up to open the place. There were people standing around waiting (or sitting in their cars). It was a bit cold and windy so we decided to leave and come back. We went to Spin Street and I picked up a couple used cds: Chavez: Better Days Will Haunt You and Orchestral Manœuvres in the Dark: Peel Sessions 1979-1983. We misjudged our timing a little bit. Warm Girls were already started when we showed back up. I don't think we missed much though, because we caught a pretty decent length of set. We were gonna stick around for more, but it was getting late and the next band taking forever to set up their two fucking keyboards (while simultaneously their friends or who the fuck ever were expending more effort trying to set up MORE stage lights than the massive amount already shooting out of the venue (one set admittedly being very cool: circles of red, blue, green, and white circles that move around and stuff)). Then the guys were just standing around while the one dude's laptop was playing warm-up music or whatever the fuck. They looked kinda hippieish. Mary Beth had been wanting to go and I had been of the "give 'em a chance" positive mentality, but it wore thin far before they began. We left. Then groceries and stuff this morning. That's about it.
