from the mouth of the people's poet...
Feb. 23rd, 2003 05:57 amlast night, it got to thundering so bad that the dogs were freaking out, so i had to save them from the horrors of the storm and let them sleep w/ me...actually, Lizzie (being the excape artist she is) had already jumped over the gate that keeps them in the kitchen and ran upstairs...
then it was another day at work...another really busy, fucked up day at work...Tony was sick so once again we were short a closing driver...i managed to get out of having to do any closing shit...i did work through 'til after midnight, but was let go...thank god, i'm so fucking sick of closing...though i have to do so tomorrow night...at least it's a night i'm actually scheduled to do so...now that i'm thinking about it, i think Tony's supposed to close tomorrow...i hope not...i hope someone will be able to fill in if so...i'm sick of this shit...also, i got another fucking ticket...for running a red light...it was at Madison and McLean (literally around the corner from the store...) it was pretty stupid, but oh fucking well...had it not been raining for forever and my side windows been foggy/blurry, i would have been able to see that the car down the street was actually a police car...i saw it and as i was crossing the intersection thought to myself "that had better not be a cop" then as i approached the opposite end realized "shit, that is a cop"...i hate cops...OI! bah...
after i managed to get out of work i went over to Jacques/Amber's...Justin was there...tv was watched...it was kind've neat 'cuz MTV2 had a big thing of U2 videos...we saw a good bit of early shit...then we made a road trip to get some Krystals...then we watched this video Shawna had borrowed to Jacques: Ungh! A Music War (hopefully i'm not screwing up the title...) it's this collection of live stuff from '81 of various bands...there's some crap on it but there's also some of the coolest stuff ever as well...here are the highlights:
Dead Kennedys "Bleed For"
Gary Numan "Down in the Park" (from the Telekon tour, it's really funny 'cuz he's riding around the stage in this little cardboard car the whole time...)
The Cramps "Tear It Up"
Pere Ubu "Birdies" (this is one of THE coolest things i have ever fucking seen in my life...)
Devo "Uncontrollable Urge"
Gang of Four "He'd Send in the Army"
Fleshtones "Shadowline"
as well as Magazine and Au Pairs doing songs i don't have...as well as some other stuff that rules...some of the bad stuff's so bad it's funny...but of course the one band that gets to have TWO songs on it is The fucking Police...maybe it'll get reissued on dvd w/ the bonus material being more stuff by the good bands...yea, of course it's wishful thinking! but wishful thinking's what keeps me going, man!
also in the news, i have two near-future moving-out prospects...and the newer one is possibly looking even better than the original...of course, for either to take place, i'll need at least one more co-rent-payer...of course the most promising aspect will involve a place to house the band...well, we'll see what develops when it does...(though if anyone know anyone interested...uh, yea...)
