last night i purchased the Criterion's Brazil dvd set...this morning i was scheduled to door hang...i went in, but it had been hectic in the store this morning so Camy just sent two of the door hangers out to door hang and kept me and Travis in the store to help out there...after that i had a brilliant thought and went to the Memphis Drum Shop...i purchased a new snare head as well as some hardware for setting up my drum synths...then i went to the space and set it all up...what i had gotten for the Pearl drum synth wouldn't fit, so i took it back...it has a weird mount and they don't really make stuff like that anymore, so the guy at the store suggested a snare stand to clamp it onto...we tested it out and it worked beautifully...one thing that bothers me now: channel 2 of the Pearl drum synth works, but channel 1 does not...the trigger light happens when you hit the drum so it's getting the signal...but no sound happens...at least it half-works...that's better than nothing for now i guess...but it seems i'll haveta get it fixed again...BOOOLOCKS! but the Synare's up and runnig fine...and now that i have the keyboard amp it can stay hooked in constantly...like part of the drum set...it's a fuckin' ace setup...the band got together and we had one fuckin' GREAT practice...we played some of the best versions of "The Longest Day of the Year" and "Taken" ever...and w/ the drum synth happening it was even more radical! DUDE! having a proper number of amps sure helps things out! and we've NEVER had the vocals more clear! Brad started trying to work out a string synth part to "Placeholder" to replace the glockenspiel part that he's not satisfied w/...and he finally came up w/ something to play on "Now It's Dark"...also on the string synth...we also played around w/ covers of "Atmosphere" and "Ceremony"...running them together...this happened as a sort of happy accident where Paul thought we were working on "Ceremony" but Jacques was showing Brad "Atmosphere"...this would be because both songs have the same notes...it's a cool thing to bust out wif, yo! the night also involved me losing some ebay auctions...ah well...Paul and i ate some delicious Huey's, i dropped him off, driving through the driving snow...it's not very sticky however...i've been getting behind in my class...though it doesn't look like i'll have time to catch up tonight...and i'm behind in sleep too...also, i just wanted to share my opinion that the Switched-On Boxed Set is one of the most well put-together collections out there...there's this giant booklet and Wendy goes into such great fucking detail about everything...among other things, she talks about the various modules she used, and even gives diagrams of certain patches she used for different parts...two of the disks also have a track w/ various early tests and she narrates talking about the details and various reasons why something wasn't used and other stuff...one disc also has multimedia files, including a virtual analog synth demo program...the box set's a music nerd's dream come true...i love shit like this...i wish more artists were so thorough w/ their releases...

hello! thanks for adding me as a friend. how nice! i don't mean to bother you with a pointless "comment," but i just had to say i dig wendy/walter as well. did you ever hear that one song by that one silly english guy named momus all about wendy? (i think she even sued the pants off of him over it) it's to the tune of "ode to joy" and goes like this: "walter carlos, transexual composer of that glorious epoch, the high analog synthesizer baroque! she is now to be known as wendy, had a gender operation done, just after making switched on bach, volume one" and then it goes on to say how when time travel is possible wendy can go back to the future and marry walter or something. pretty silly, i know. but whenever i hear the name wendy carlos that momus song pops into my head!

i've never heard that song...i've read something about it...just some song named "Walter Carlos" by some guy named Momus and Wendy sued him...though those lyrics sound like Wesley Willis...that's pretty cool...
