after class i had to go buy the damned text book (Living with Art)...i was hoping to get around that but the second exam's tomorrow and i need it as we will be shown slides of works and will have to tell which period of the one's we've studied it's from and give evidence by comparing it to another work from the same period that we've selected from the book...which isn't bad i guess, except that i have to buy the fucking book...bollocks! after i napped i went back to school and saw the advising coordinator...it looks like i should be graduating this fall...i had been thinking i was farther along in computer science but i think i might actually be done w/ my math electives...i still need three comp sci electives from the department...all i had been doing were math classes...so i think i'll just need to take three of those classes (intro to computer graphics, intro to computer networks, and intro to computer security i guess...hopefully those won't be too bad...i HATE programming though...bah!) i need to talk to someone in the math department too about my electives there...after that i went to Jacques'...we watched that Christian Death video i rented the other day...surprsingly enough, it wasn't bad...at least the music sounded like the album...they didn't over-cock/goth it out...though, while Rozz Williams was trying to be all spooky on the album, it didn't work and he just sounded cool when he sang, since then he's learned to sound spookier so his vocals were a little cheesier, but he still wasn't TOO far from the way he sang back then...there was a bit of funny cheesy stage stuff though...(not as much as i had expected, however...) there was this leather chick all chained up in the back kind've dancing...and this one goth kid got up on stage and started doing the sp00kie slowly moving the hands around the face move...and instead of stage-diving he just kind've sank back into the crowd...and towards the end Rozz was making out w/ all the hottt goth chicks up front...and Rick Agnew had a shirt w/ skulls & crossbones and yin yangs...it was pretty comical...and not bad...wacky, that...also, w/in the course of 5 seconds i figured out the guitar part to "Spiritual Cramp"...i think The Family Ghost shall be covering that little number...awww yea...then Brad and Mary showed up and Jacques put in the Big Black Pigpile video...always fun to watch...i also figured out Albini's guitar part on "Passing Complexion" (prob'ly my favorite Big Black song...) and at the end i figured out the guitar part for "Heartbeat" (yea, two whole power chords...the whole song...Wire rules...) i went and got Paul sometime after that...GTA3 was played...then Jacques reverted to his typical pansy antics and went to bed...i drug Paul w/ me to Turtle's where (at the stroke of midnight) i purchased Sonic Youth: Murray Street...fresh off the press...then we went to Neil's for $5 steak night...now i guess i should study for my exam soon...at least i'll have more than 30 min of sleep for this one...

What do you think of the new Sonic Youth? Should I run out and buy it now? Also, what does Turtles have it priced at?

quite great...i've listened to it once...kind've funny, the first half didn't seem as good as it was live, but the second half possibly seemed better...the version of "Plastic Sun" completely stompz the hell out of my ballz...i can't wait to listen to it again to better formulate my opinion...huzzah!

very good...i'd say you should get it a.s.a.p....then again, i'm the big SY obsessive...Turtle's has it at their new release/top-of-the-charts-garbage sale price of $13.99...so it's actually reasonable...i was expecting to pay the $18.99 standard (as i did when it was Wherehouse and 2000 and NYC Ghosts & Flowers...or maybe that was $17.99...ungodly expensive anyhow...) but it would've been worth it to have it already...yea...

well, i take the music on their first album seriously...though the lyrics are fucking hilarious...

and i hope you enjoy Murray Street...speaking of which, i think at the end of the week, when i get my paycheck, i'm gonna be purchasing 5 SY tickets in 5 cities...
