On Wednesday night I watched the NYC Anthony Bourdain episode where it's all about the Lower East Side and the 70s and 80s punk scene. It was good. I knew Lydia Lunch was in it and she did not disappoint. Mary Beth, however, had kept John Lurie as a surprise. He had the funniest segment as during their interview he boiled some eggs and made Anthony Bourdain eat them and do his thing where he has to act all grateful. Of course, classic John Lurie humor that I'm sure doesn't come across in text. Yesterday in the evening Mary Beth and I went to Crosstown to see a screening of My Own Private Idaho. Neither of us had ever seen it. I thought it was quite good. For novelty's sake we thought we'd watch from the upstairs side balcony thing. The angle's kinda weird for watching movies but I got used to it once the movie was underway. Afterwards, while still in the building, we went to that new or newish Vietnamese place Bao Toan. We didn't eat a full meal as we'd already eaten but split something. Mary Beth wanted to go back to try the drink they were out of. I guess they have a couple of really good drinks. The food was pretty good, like the quality and the ingredients seem good but it feels like the flavors could be stronger and more assertive, and the overall vibe is pretty bougie, but had a good time there hanging out.
