So this Suss comp that's missing a track...I did email the label back to inquire about the "replacement disc" that was mentioned on discogs, but the guy got back and didn't know about it, thought the missing track was just a known error but never fixed (said he was going to ask someone who would know better though?). So maybe I just made myself look like an idiot asking a dumb question. Anyway...I finished adding the sound back into the movie. All the stuff with mixing down to a 6-channel track in reaper...was halfway wrong! Looking at the original mkv rip to see what was different from the new mkvs I was creating, the main thing I noticed was that the audio piece of it was showing as a dts and the newer ones were pcm files (as in wavs, which I knew but wasn't sure about dts at all). So I looked into that and that's the native surround-sound format (most audio software isn't compatible with it directly). It knows internally how to translate the 6-channel audio to stereo. So while my original attempts with 6-channel wav files MAY have worked IF we got it on an actual surround sound system, my computer's software doesn't know what to do with the 6-channels and my stereo speakers so that's why it never came out right. But I got another piece of software that can convert the wavs to a dts file (maybe it's supposed to work with the 6-channel wav file but I got an error with it but it did work going back to the original six separate wav files and was able to combine them to a proper dts). So once I was able to mux that back into the mkv file...it's working correctly! But damn what a painful-ass journey. I do now know way more about 5.1 surround sound than I ever thought I would. I finally started working some on gathering the materials for the electroacoustic ensemble's scores...way behind on that but now I'm at least started on it.
