Seven Types of Ambiguity
Oct. 8th, 2024 08:04 amDuring my lunch break I finished reading The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson and it was really good (the titular story is probably the best, so thanks for reading it to me, but there's lots of other great stuff in there too...the rest is more "realistic", but of course "The Lottery" is also realistic, just minus the conceit that it's an actual tradition that's been going on for generations). My anniversary present for Mary Beth finally came. It was originally taking longer than expected to arrive, but then that was good because on our anniversary I found out I'd ordered the wrong size like a dummy (it's ring with a book on it, referencing her wedding band that doesn't fit anymore, much like mine that doesn't fit anymore!) so I was able to get them to correct it before it sent out but that delayed it a little more (but worth it). So I took her on a little short walk similar to when I proposed sixteen years ago, over to the median and did the whole thing and gave it to her and asked if she'd stay married to me. This time she said "I guess so" so, score! It was a nice day. We walked around the median like a park (might as well make use of it since one doesn't get over there often!). Then we went and did our Superlo grocery run. Okay, now another day. Up and at them.
