Yesterday Tomorrow

Last night Mary Beth and I went up to Crosstown to see The City of Tomorrow and they were really really good. I last saw them back in 2018 and Elise (the flautist) played in the MC Electroacoustic Performance last year. It was all good, perhaps the highlight was the final piece by George Lewis that they commissioned. They also had these screens set up with different geometric shapes, two were just in the back and one was where Elise would go behind it in certain points (they had two setups, just in a semicircle at the front of the "stage" and then, while they were playing for certain pieces, they would go back to separate stations in the back. The clarinetist also played some bass clarinet and that's always enjoyable!
