ateolf: (zoo and you)
Had another Friday off yesterday and Mary Beth started it off by having lunch at Texas de Brazil. So we ate a lot and it was delicious. Then we went over to the Rock 'n' Soul Museum. Never been there before. It was alright. It's not huge or anything and as it overlaps with several other Memphis museums (Stax, Sun, Graceland, etc.) you feel a little like you're getting their leftovers. But they have these old jukeboxes throughout and as part of the audio tour you can select different songs at each one to listen to and that's a nice touch. Also, they have a bit on Hi Records which I'm not so familiar with (I mean, I know of Willie Mitchell and Royal Studios but don't think I remembered that Hi was the label associated with it, and one knows Al Green of course but I don't think I knew that was the label he was on). I'm also now just a little obsessed with "I Can't Stand the Rain" by Ann Peebles which I didn't know before. Anyway, it was a fun little bit of being touristy. Then we walked around downtown a little bit. We stopped in that A. Schwab store on Beale Street for just a minute. Then we walked down to the river. It's still crazy low. Then after a bit more wandering we left downtown. We went over to Cooper Young, Mary Beth wanted to see some cats at House of Mews. We walk over and there are these two tiny kittens just hanging out in front of the door (it was closed at this time) and a woman from the bar next door was all worrying over them having just found them when taking out the trash. She brought them water. Mary Beth was getting some anxiety over it, worrying about the kittens but not being ready for any new cats yet. I took a picture that I posted to see if anyone might want to pick them up. Phoebe came by and she said that as she came up to it she saw someone taking them. We had gone and had a little bit of beverage at the Young Avenue Deli, sitting outside. The weather was very nice about it. And it was a bit of a relief to hear that someone was taking those kittens. A little later we went over to Bosco's for a bit of hoppin'. I had a sleep last night that was probably the best in a while. I didn't hurt terribly and I didn't wake up in awful pain. I mean, I was an am a little sore, but not as bad as it's been. I did take both ibuprofen and cbd before going to bed for the first time. And I also went to sleep with the hot water bottle on me. Maybe all those together helped. I dunno. I'm hoping it'll help it all get better.
