Sometime yesterday morning I went back down to the basement to check for Peanut. Didn't see any sign of her so I closed the door. Just shortly after that I got a text from her human (Mary Beth had texted her that night when we were worried) and she let me know she'd come back. In the afternoon I finished reading A Handbook for Visitors from Outer Space by Kathryn Kramer. It was okay. It started off very promisingly. The writing style was very good at the beginning. But then as it went into the plot, the style just kind of disappeared. The dialogue tended to be awkward and clumsy (not that they were awkward and clumsy conversations, just the way people talking was written was awkward and clumsy) and there was a lot of it, also just the way characters were talked about was suffused with that as well. A lot of the plot had promise in being pretty interesting (if not convoluted but that's not necessarily a bad thing!). Anyway, there were good things about it and I had hopes for it, but overall, while not bad, it didn't quite fulfill its promise. Anyway, at night Mary Beth and I went up to High Cotton to see Patrick's band New Science System do a Halloween show. It was also kind of a benefit for his friend and bandmate who had died earlier in the year. They played with a projection of Häxan so that's always enjoyable. Mary Beth and I took out the beautiful giant Netflix envelopes she'd made. I took some cbd to help me with the sleeping pains last night. I also tried out a new pillow configuration that I was sure was gold and I did go to sleep pretty nice and easily. Though I woke up after six hours or so and it was back to every position hurt (and badly). So yeah, much less the position that mattered but the cbd! I took some more and was able to go back to sleep with a normal pillow configuration so yeah. I'm about ready for all this to go away soon, right!?
