ateolf: (zoo and you)
Something funny happened yesterday. I guess I need to give a little bit of background first. So, Rochester has two types of regional hot dogs (or sausage I guess depending on how you classify these things) that can't be found elsewhere: red hots and white hots (and the colors in the names are the apt descriptions you'd imagine them to be!). The white hots are especially their own thing (and I guess to me are something in between a hot dog and a bratwurst). When we were in Rochester last month, Mary Beth wanted more than anything to have some white hots on her visit, since she can only get them while there so maybe every couple of years. We even had a big adventure one day going around to places to get some (the main place happened to be closed that day and a few other random misadventures). Anyway, so I found a store where you can order them online and have them cooler shipped and it's not too unreasonable with these bulk deals they have (and the bottom tier is a relatively small bulk order). Our anniversary is next week so I figured that would be a nice anniversary present. So ordered them and they were scheduled to arrive yesterday. Well, so Mary Beth's parents had the very same idea and ordered them for us and they also arrived yesterday. In fact, theirs came first and I saw what it was and knew mine was "out for delivery" so I knew that was what I'd ordered, right!? I mean, are you ever expecting a cooler filled with hot dogs to arrive from more than one source on the same day? So I'm all, yep this is what I ordered. I knew I couldn't time it to be here right on time for our anniversary so it came just a little bit early, but you can't hide something that needs to be refrigerated or frozen so I announced that my anniversary gift had arrived. There were some small differences in what I'd ordered, one of the four packages was red instead of white and the packet of seasoning I'd included was missing too. I figured there was just a mistake in the order but it's a small thing. The other clue was the addressee on the package was both our names and I didn't put both our names on it...weird, but maybe her name came up in the system somehow connected with the credit card or address or something maybe? When Mary Beth found the note from her mom that was included, well, that made it obvious. My order was still saying "out for delivery" so we just waited for that too! The one from her parents came first thing (earlier than we usually get ups deliveries) and mine gave very last thing (later than we usually get ups deliveries and even a few minutes past the scheduled window) and everything was just as I'd ordered. So now we have a whole fucking bunch of white hots! They'll last a good while. We were both cracking up over the coincidence of it, both ordered the same thing for the same purpose and them both arriving on the same day.

The other big event of the day was that I got my jacket back! Woohoo! I went over to Jill's and they asked me to pick them up from the bus stop since it was raining. Though they got there a little first and started walking home. I did meet them along the way, but like just a few houses down. I did pick them up and drive them about "ten feet" (more like thirty yards but still). Anyway, the jacket was where it stupidly left it at the party so I got it back and just in time for the weather to possibly require it more! Okay, I think that's about it.
