Stuff and Stuff
Sep. 10th, 2023 11:48 amI got some cds in the mail yesterday. First a package from a certain band: Wolf Eyes: In Splattered Time, Wolf Eyes: Subs & Grinders, Wolf Eyes: Dumpsters & Attitude Vol. One, and Wolf Eyes: Wolf (I guess? the last one is an extra thing they sent, just a cdr with "Wolf" and some music notes written in sharpie on the label and wrapped in a photocopied interview with them from some magazine...so, no idea what's on it but pretty cool to get an extra thing like that!). Then the other package was Danny Kamins/Chris Alford/Charles Pagano: The Secret Stop. Then a little later I went up to Burke's to give Kole this dumb souvenir I'd picked up while in Rochester (a little strip of film from the movie Batman and Robin from a theater projection reel...I'd also gotten one for Jacques which I'd given him earlier with Mr. Freeze ('cuz he likes making bad Mr. Freeze puns) and this one for Kole was Batman...so not too long ago we'd been talking and they said how they enjoy the Batman and Robin movie so when I saw it I thought of them and picked it up). Anyway, hung around a while talking. Also Bret walked in the store and we chatted a good bit too. Then I browsed and picked up a few books: An Outcast of the Islands by Joseph Conrad, A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan, From the Mouth of the Whale by Sjón, The Blue Fox by Sjón, The Whispering Muse by Sjón, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon, Eclipse Fever by Walter Abish, and Zazie dans le Métro by Raymond Queneau (the last is an original Olympia Press edition so that's pretty cool!). So that was a fun time for the day. At one point in the evening I had some Moon Pie and an RC and that was more enjoyable than even expected. Okay!
