Yesterday I got a cd in the mail: Slow Blink: Migration. At night, I worked some more on editing the Memphis Concrète recordings and finally got all the sets split off from the room recordings. Then I went to the other end of the festival to try mixing together the board and room recordings of a set and I think I figured out the issue that I thought was different speeds. I noticed in a set with a quiet and sparse rhythm (as opposed to the dense, ambient blob of the first set I'd tried) that the board recording seems to have glitched out occasionally, like a "skip" where it jumps missing a little bit of time. So it's not that it's faster than the room recording, but that there are random little bits probably missing here and there. Well, that'll make it fucking fun to figure out! We'll see if I want to go on doing some investigative work or just send out sets as-is. I've already sent them out for the few where the board recording completely missed their set. Reminded all over again why I don't like having pieces that are out of my hands! But knowing the issue is better than the mystery now, at least. Then at night I watched just a little bit of Timeslip with Mary Beth. She's been watching it but I haven't gotten to join in previously, but I was enjoying it. Also, while watching I happened to catch with her the only episode surviving in color!
