Yesterday Mary Beth and I went up to Crosstown for the concurrent Record Swap and Zine Fest (the former downstairs and the latter upstairs). Most of the tables at the record swap were vinyl, but one did have a lot of cds, but they obviously had (primarily) been the supply of a mediocre jazz radio station (and its bottom of the barrel at that!) but I still went through all the boxes, even shuffling everything around to search the bottom when things were double-stacked. I did find one cd that seemed worth getting and so I thought I'd gotten a McCoy Tyner Plays John Coltrane cd, but later after I'd gotten home I realized it had the wrong disc in it! So that ruins that! Another table that had a few cds also had a stack of original promotional postcards for Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet so I got a few of those. Then I went upstairs to the zine fest and there was one table where you can create your own zines and with scissors and a bunch of magazines and construction paper and glue and I made a few collages (they didn't quite make it to being zines). I was kinda happy with them. In one art magazine I found a review of Anne Garréta's Sphinx and I was able to get a nice full-sized picture of that cover (as well as a paragraph about it and Oulipo). I had to cut it short abruptly as Mary Beth had suddenly gotten sick and we had to go home! She seemed to do better after resting for much of the rest of the day. I hope she's even better today! I think that's about all I've got.
