Garbage Shit
Jul. 10th, 2023 08:06 amI had to accomplish a pretty disgusting task yesterday (though it ended up being not nearly as bad as I'd braced myself for). So the backstory, somebody had thrown their dog shit bag into our garbage bin and it broke open or wasn't closed or whatever and there was shit at the bottom of our bin (and though most of our garbage got collected, there was one bag at the bottom that didn't) and then rain or whatever got inside so there was this shit puddle at the bottom of the bin and when Mary Beth went to take it back after being collected the whole thing was swarming and infested with flies. So she addressed that with a poison bomb but then there was still left to clean the mess up. So yesterday I took it, put it on its side and removed the removable things inside and disposed of them elsewhere and then hosed out the bottom of the bin. I mean, it wasn't high of the list of pleasant things but I was all geared up for it to be even a much worse experience than it was, so thankfully it wasn't that bad.
Anyway, better things happened later in the day. In the evening Mary Beth and I went to Memphis Pizza Cafe, to which we hadn't been in like forever. Then after that I went over to Nate's play with synths. It was originally going to be a trio with Karl as well and we were probably going to mess around with stuff from the Allen Strange book, but Karl had gotten a cold so he couldn't make it. Instead of bringing modular I just brought over my Wasp. And we played with that and Nate's modular. Also my Wasp is now doing some random thing it wasn't doing even a few weeks ago. It's especially prevalent on the bottom "key" where instead of playing a single note it's like it's playing some cluster of notes like a really fast arpeggio. There's some fluctuations on some of the other "keys" as well, but much more subtle and on that low "key" it just goes crazy. It sounds cool, of course, but it's also like, what the hell is it even doing? Anyway, it was fun hanging out anyway. I got to see their "new" cats (which they've had a few years now!) Mango and Sarah and they are so cute! They were very wary of me at first but they warmed up a little bit after I was there a while, especially Mango (Sarah did and then retreated again). I hung out a little bit talking with Nate and April too (Patty is out of town at grandparents'). Also a weird thing happened where Nate offered me some water and I hadn't been feeling thirsty at all so I declined but then right after I declined I was all "wait, I am really thirsty" but then I'd just declined water so I didn't want to, I don't know, but I was just like it's not a big deal I'm not that thirsty. But then later April offered me some so I took her up and drank it and that helped but I was still just crazy thirsty. After I got home I drank a whole ton of water and it took a while before I was sated. Maybe it was the pizza saltiness suddenly catching up with me. I don't think it was all just the power of suggestion. Anyway, me going on and on about drinking water is not the most exciting way to end this post!
