Mary Beth and I did our Kroger grocery run yesterday evening. Then after that I went up to B-Side for a show. Ben Ricketts was opening for the Casiotone for the Painfully Alone guy. I'd forgotten it was him (CFTPAg) because he apparently abandoned that name after getting married and having kids. He goes by Advance Base now. Zach showed up at this show so I got to talk and hang out with him a bit and hadn't done that in a while. Anyway, Celest was first with some singersongerwritery stuff. Then Ben Ricketts played and this time he had an ensemble. Kole was playing tape and laptop. I'd mainly come as I was curious as to what that would be like. He also had someone on guitar and someone on bass. Then it was Advance Bass. Someone (either Ben or Kole) had previously mentioned that this show with him was coming up but I'd forgotten and forgotten what he was called so it wasn't until shortly before he played that I was like, oh wait, yeah, it's that guy and this is that show. It was pretty good. Still playing similar sounds to the later Casiotone stuff (you know, after there stopped being any actual Casiotone), soft, sad songs mostly built around piano types of sounds. It was pretty good. Okay, now back to work. Yawn.
