Which Witch
Dec. 17th, 2022 09:01 amThe car/tire got fixed up and ready in the afternoon. They had to replace the stud so that was the only major (and not even a major expense) as the tire was under warranty (had to be replaced) so we just paid for the labor on it. Anyway, so was able to grab a lift and get it back. In my cd ripping project, I finished the "top shelf" (box sets and oversized items that don't fit in the regular shelves). I have a very very rough estimate that that makes me about 1/11th of the way through. Okay, so I went to see Claudio Simonetti's Goblin do a live score to Suspiria last night. It was fun! Then they did a regular set after that (seemed a little short, but whatever). I know I had complained and bitched about the ticket prices and paying twenty extra bucks for a seat versus standing for a movie, but I did buy the seated ticket. I got there later than most other people and there weren't many seats left, but I did one right on the edge that seemed like it would be behind a pillar but it was JUST to the side where the pillar didn't block any of the view. And even though it was on the side, it was more central that you would have expected, I think the seats were kinda shifted where over on the left was farther off and on the right it was still almost at the center, so it was a pretty good view, and I didn't have to be surrounded by people! (But what the fuck was with everyone entering the row to get back to their seat touching me? People don't do that shit, but for some reason everyone was doing it last night!?) I saw Jacques and talked to him. Also saw this guy Brett who was at the two Pop Saw shows last month and went to this 'cuz he asked if there were other shows coming up and this was about the only one I knew of. He hadn't been familiar with the movie or Goblin before and he seemed into it. I got a t-shirt before the show started (I know I don't need another Suspiria t-shirt (already had two), but...it's different?). Oh, couple notes about the music in the show. For the actual movie portion, the guitarist almost exclusively play bouzouki so I was happy to see that! My favorite part of the soundtrack is the build-up on the title song and in the movie that doesn't come til the very end. So I'm spending the whole time waiting for it, and the music they're playing is very good (though the way the soundtrack in the movie goes, it mostly repeats the four themes throughout), anyway they get to the end and do the build-up part of "Suspiria" and it was a little not-quite-as-good as the rest, a little metal-cheesed up. And they never included that big lfo part. But it was good, I'm not complaining (well, yes, I guess I am complaining, but I'm not complaining seriously, I guess I mean). They also did "Suspiria" and "Markos" for the after-set as they'd just put out some new "prog rock version" as a new rendition of the album so they were in that style (you probably won't be surprised to learn that it was less good! and "Markos" mostly sounded like a completely different song, still fun though). The best parts were the two best Dawn of the Dead songs (the main title and "Zombi"). Really awesome! Okay, I'm done blathering about the show's minutiae!
