ateolf: (the goat...BITCH!)
Yesterday at lunch I finished reading Alphabetical Africa by Walter Abish. It was good, if it did feel a little within the confines of just the exercise that it is. I did find a few mistakes on the constraint (I had read there were some beforehand). In the second H chapter there's an instance of "in" and in the second G chapter it says "her" a whole bunch of times in a row (I think there was another slip that I don't remember). In the afternoon Mary Beth and I went on a walk. Then at night I went to a show. It was originally going to be a five artist bill but a) good news: one of the artists dropped off at the last minute, b) bad news: it was one I was most wanting to see (Blanket Swimming coming into town!). So it ended up being a manageable four artist bill, and one of the artists I didn't care too much about seeing (Moving Targets, an old 80s Boston punk/power-pop band and I hadn't heard them before but checked them out and wasn't too into it). Anyway, Pas Moi was first and great. Then it was General Labor and they were also great. Then I heard that the touring band was going to play next and I was about to leave early given the weeknight situation but the next band started and I had waited a bit just to see in the other room and when I heard it I was like, woah this is good and went into the small room. But then I saw that it was actually Jadewick, the other local band on the bill that I hadn't been familiar with before. Now I'm into them, they were good, pretty heavy, kind of somewhere between math rock and noise rock without quite actually landing on either. Anyway, they've got a lot of energy and sound good! Then I thought I could split and make it home before my bedtime so I did that!
