Two Thirds
Jul. 3rd, 2022 08:07 amYesterday afternoon I watched this movie called Tormenting the Hen with Mary Beth and it was good. She saw it at Indie Memphis some years back but I didn't catch it then. Then I went and tried to spend the night catching not one but two shows. Their times were staggered such that I thought I could do it, and I ended up half-succeeding (or something like that). First was Nonconnah's album release show at Java Cabana. It was nice seeing a show there. Dinosauria was up first and he was good as always. Then it was Nonconnah. They were pretty casual about the schedule so that's where things went wrong for my "master" plan. Started a good 45 minutes "late" and sets were long with a good bit of time between. Not complaining, I know my plan was hubris. I picked up a new Nonconnah shirt. I left while Nonconnah was still playing, unfortunately but I saw at least the majority of the set. I went up to Off the Wall for the other show (same art exhibit as the show last week). I could hear sound as I came up, but the instant I opened the door to the room Optic Sink finished so I JUST missed their set! Ah well. I did get to see Drop Ceiling and they were good, kinda spaced out electronic jazz or something. Peter who I kinda know is in it so it was cool to see him. Anyway, I mostly got to see two great shows. Hopefully they recorded the Optic Sink set and maybe I'll get to experience it in some way (I know it was all improv and interacting with the exhibit). I'm supposed to go over to my parents' to be with my mom for a bit today, so I woke up early for that but got a message from my mom that she was going to sleep real late and wouldn't wake up til pretty late so I didn't need to go over right away. I tried to go back to sleep but I'd already woken up and didn't make it. At least I get to chill for a little bit.
